Policies & safety

Every policy a parent, player, coach or volunteer needs — published in one place, where anyone can find it.

How to read this page. Items marked pending board adoption are drafts prepared for the association to review, amend and formally adopt. Nothing here is association policy until the board adopts it. Existing items are already published by the association.

Safety

Concussion protocol

Baseline testing has been used here since 2013. King-Devick testing gives us a real comparison point if a player takes a hit.

Safe Contact

Safe Contact is Football Canada's mandated course. Every coach in this association holds it.

What Safe Contact covers →

Contact limits in practice

Hawk-tackle technique at every level, and deliberately limited full-contact practice time.

Equipment

Pending board adoption

Helmet replacement policy

Helmets are replaced on a defined schedule, and the association budgets for it every year. This policy states the rule in one place, in plain language, so parents know what their player is wearing.

Note for the board: this policy currently exists in more than one version. Before publishing, the board should agree one rule.

What's supplied

All equipment is supplied by the association except cleats. If cleats are a barrier, donated cleats are available at no cost — just ask.

The equipment deposit is $100, additional to the registration fee and paid together with registration.

Privacy & your information

Registering a player means we hold personal information about a child. That deserves a plain answer about what we keep and who sees it.

Pending board adoption. A short privacy statement covering: what we collect at registration, why we need it (including membership and insurance through Football Alberta), who it is shared with, how long we keep it, and who to contact about it. This page must exist before online registration goes live.
